After the first two legs, New Zealand and South Africa teams are on top of the Men’s standings in the 2017/18 Series, with each side winning a tournament and finishing runner up in the other. South Africa won at Dubai while New Zealand were dominant in the Final at Cape Town. Here in Sydney, Australia drew a place in Pool D, alongside Canada, Scotland and USA.

South Africa and New Zealand are also expected to go well in the Sydney Men’s tournament. Traditionally Fiji are also very good in the Sevens format and most expect them to go close in Sydney, especially with the forecast for extreme heat. The home side will look to do well in front of local fans. Ben O’Donnell is the leading try scorer for Australia so far this series with nine tries, and is expected to pick up more in Sydney. The Men’s tournament is tipped to go at 6.00pm on Friday, with Australia’s first match taking place at 8.12pm (AEDT) when they clash with the USA team, but don‘t look for the World Rugby Sevens on Free to air in Australia.
